Visiting an orthodontist is the best way of fixing crooked teeth, correcting crowded teeth and restoring your natural bite. Although braces provide solutions to these orthodontic problems, you still might be worried of teeth shifting. Here are things you can do when shifting begins.
– Shifting after removing your braces is normal. However, you are still required to wear a retainer at night to keep your teeth correctly positioned.
– Your initial retainer is uniquely fitted for your mouth. Not wearing it every night can cause over shifting of teeth which will force you to get a new, fitting retainer.
– Excess shifting is not normal and should be reported to your orthodontist. After removing your braces, your teeth should shift just enough to still fit your retainer.
Follow orthodontic instructions and visit your dentist regularly for a healthy smile!
