Vitality Dental and Optical Care is Edinburgh resident’s first port of call for Invisible Braces. We offer a range of short term orthodontic treatment capable of aligning crooked or over crowded teeth, closing unwanted gaps and adjusting improper bites. Many people come to us after having orthodontic treatment in the past but because of inadequate guidance on how to maintain their straight teeth using retainers, their teeth have moved back into the original position. Here at Vitality Dental and Optical, we can help you achieve that beautiful confident smile you’ve always wanted.
6 Months Smile
6 Months Smile is ideal for patients who are put off orthodontic treatment because of the lengthy process to achieve that beautiful smile. As the name suggests, 6 Months Smile can adjust and align your teeth to perfection in just 6 months or less. Using discrete, tooth coloured, brackets and wires your teeth will quickly be moved into line. The only thing you have to do is return to the dentist every 6 weeks for him to change the wires and tighten the braces.

The Inman Aligner is a removable system that is perfect for aligning overcrowded or protruding front teeth. Worn for 16-20 hours a day, the Inman Aligner utilizes a push-pull method between two aligner bows to move teeth into line. This is also a short term orthodontic system, with most cases completed within 6-18 weeks.
Clear aligners are now an extremely popular method of orthodontic treatment, most commonly associated with brands such as Invisalign, cFast and Quick Straight Teeth. Clear aligners straighten your teeth using a removable, transparent, aligner specifically made for your teeth. A new aligner will be fitted by your dentist every two weeks, gradually moving your teeth into the desired position. Treatment lengths vary depending, lasting from 6 to 24 months.
After the completion of all orthodontic treatment we provide, free of charge, upper and lower removable retainers (RRP £80), so that your new smile remains perfect for years to come.
Invisible braces FAQ’s
Will the braces hurt?
With all orthodontics, it is normal to experience some mild discomfort during your treatment. This is due to your teeth gradually moving position.
How long will the brace take to work?
Treatment length depends on the type of brace used and the original position of your teeth. It is expected for 6 Months Smile to be completed in 6 months or less, Inman Aligner is normally 6-18 weeks and Clear Aligners can take up to 24 months. It all comes down to the individual patient.
How often will I have to come back to the dentist during my treatment?
6 Month Smile patients return to the dentist for adjustment every 6 weeks. If you are using a clear aligner, then return exams are as often as every two weeks to have your new aligner fitted. Return exams for those with the Inman Aligner is every 2-3 weeks as well.
Will my teeth stay straight forever?
At the end of your orthodontic treatment, you will be provided with an upper and lower retainer, which is hard plastic and custom-made to prevent your teeth from moving back to the original position. Retainers must be worn every night, for as long as you want your teeth to stay in line.
Will I be left with any marks on my teeth after the treatment is finished?
Our dentists at Vitality Dental and Optical care are highly trained to provide unmatchable Orthodontic treatment. The methods we provide use a very low force to gently move teeth, making treatment risk free from the damage associated with traditional orthodontics. Any excess glue or residue left on teeth from brackets is removed using top of the range equipment and professional dental cleaning material after treatment.
Can I eat and drink normally when I am wearing my braces?
The Inman Aligner and Clear Aligner must be removed while eating, and drinking hot drinks. You should clean your teeth and your aligner before refitting it back into your mouth. 6 Month Smile patients are able to eat and drink as normal, but must take caution when biting into hard food such as apples, and baguettes as this force can cause brackets to dislodge.
During your initial consultation with our highly trained orthodontic dentist, you can discuss your concerns regarding the current position of your teeth and what results you want from your orthodontic treatment. Your dentist will also take this time to answer any questions and address any worries you have. Clinical measurements will then be taken of your teeth and bite, and pictures will be taken so that a treatment plan can be made tailored to your needs. We will then make a decision on what the most suitable invisible braces system to you is.
